He announced the launch of the fourth National Action Plan to Combat and Prevent Illegal Migration (2024-2026), emphasizing the role of coordinated efforts among national agencies.

Since 2016, no illegal vessels have left Egypt’s shores, highlighting effective anti-smuggling measures. The new plan builds on a decade-long strategy to enhance these efforts.

The Foreign Ministry is committed to addressing migration issues and fostering international cooperation through partnerships with the EU and adherence to global agreements on migrant rights.

#crime

A gunman killed 10 students at an adult learning centre in Orebro, Sweden, before taking his own life. Many victims were immigrants, including 29-year-old Salim Iskef, a Syrian refugee. His fiancée, Kareen Elia, was devastated.

Authorities have not confirmed the shooter’s identity or motive, increasing fear and uncertainty. Witnesses described panic as shots rang out. Immigrant communities feel vulnerable.

Some fear rising anti-immigrant sentiment. Locals want answers, but officials urge patience. The mayor and residents mourn the tragedy. Many say Sweden is changing, comparing the attack to those seen in the U.S. The city remains in shock.

Tories Plan to Bar Benefit-Claiming Migrants from UK Settlement

United Kingdom

#workvisa

#citizenship

Tory leader Kemi Badenoch announced plans to block migrants on work visas from settling in the UK if they claim benefits. She wants to extend the wait for indefinite leave to remain (ILR) from five to ten years. Migrants must prove they are net contributors and have no criminal records.

The Conservatives also propose delaying citizenship eligibility to 15 years after ILR. Badenoch argues current rules create a “conveyor belt” to citizenship. The government aims to amend its immigration bill to enforce these changes. The move responds to voter concerns and the rise of Reform UK’s hardline stance.

Canada

#skilledworkers

IRCC invited 4,000 candidates in a Canadian Experience Class (CEC) draw. The minimum CRS score was 521. This was the second draw of the week, following a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw on February 4.

In 2025, most invitations will target CEC, PNP, and category-based selection candidates. Express Entry manages federal immigration streams, while PNPs focus on regional needs.

Enhanced PNPs give candidates extra CRS points, boosting their chances. IRCC aims to welcome over 124,000 new permanent residents in 2025. Recent draws show a focus on in-Canada applicants, healthcare, trades, and French-speaking candidates.
