#tourism
The Philippine Bureau of Immigration (BI) has downgraded the work visas of around 2,000 Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) employees to tourist visas.
This action follows President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s order to ban all POGOs in the country. The BI has also stopped accepting and denied pending applications for 9g work visas for POGO workers.
By October 16, all remaining 9g visas will be cancelled, with POGO operations ending by December 31, 2024. Affected workers have 59 days to leave the Philippines. The Filipino-Chinese Federation is assisting with flights to help them return to China.

France

#policy
The French government plans to introduce a new immigration law by 2025, which could extend the detention period for undocumented migrants from 90 to 210 days. This move, defended by Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau, aims to address evolving security challenges.
The law may also tighten regularization rules for undocumented migrants, particularly in family cases. Despite potential opposition in Parliament, the government seeks broad consensus without relying on the far-right National Rally.
Kosovo Citizens with Serbian Passports Granted Visa-Free Travel to EU
Serbia
#travel
#schengen
Kosovo citizens holding Serbian Coordination Directorate passports can now travel visa-free to Schengen Zone countries for short-term stays. The decision took effect on October 13, 2024, following an agreement signed on September 18 by European Parliament President Roberta Metsola and Hungary’s Minister for European Affairs, János Bóka.
This visa liberalization aligns all Western Balkan countries under the same visa rules. Previously, these specific Serbian passport holders, primarily residing in Kosovo, were excluded from visa-free travel. The regulation, published in the EU's Official Gazette, addresses this exclusion, allowing broader visa-free access to the Schengen Area.
