Aalto University

Aalto University was established after the merger of three research institutes in Finland, including the Helsinki University of Technology, the University of Arts and Design Helsinki and the Helsinki School of Economics. These institutions offered their services on a different frontier. The purpose of the merger was to bring all these disciplines together to create something great.

After the merger, the university is considered the second-largest university in Finland. It is spread over the main campus in Otaniemi and the sub-campus in Töölö and Mikkeli. The academic staff of Aalto University is around 2,761.

There are six schools in the institution. Each school has a variety of departments, independent labs, as well as independent research and other divisions. The following are some of their departments and institutions.

This institute has several notable alums. Few of these are Artturi Ilmari Virtanen (Nobel Laureate), Jorma Ollila (CEO of Nokia, Chairman of Royal Dutch Shell), Gunnar Nordström (pioneering physicist), Teuvo Kohonen (Neural Networks Researcher), Tapio Wirkkala (designer) and Alvar Aalto (architect).

The University is spread over six schools hosting around 17,000 students, both national and international.

People from other countries may also apply to the university. At this university, 18% of the students are from other countries.

The institution takes part in a number of international exchange programs for academic personnel and students. However, Aalto University offers significant funding programs to overseas students.

They have the Teekkarikylä housing section on the Otaniemi campus (technology student village). International students of many nationalities are a distinctive feature of the housing. The town provided accommodation for about 2,600 students as of 2005.

There is some student housing nearby the other schools as well. The institute offers proper guidance to assist you in that matter.

Aalto University has been given 4.0 stars at Studyportals, a platform where students can rate any institute according to their experience. Other than this, Aalto University has the following rankings.
