ABOUT

Also known as Nanda, Nanjing University is among the well-known public research universities in China. This institute is spread over two main campuses, one in the central city and the other on the city's Northeast side. NJU follows the mission to build itself as a research-intensive, comprehensive, and international institution. The University offers degrees in about 185 master's and 120 PhD programs.

This University is most active in China for Cooperation and academic exchange with the universities in Macao, Hongkong and Taiwan. Founded in the 1980s, the Nanjing University-John Hopkins University Center for American and Chinese Studies is the oldest collaboration with an international institution in China. Nanjing University strives to reform its learning and teaching to combine individual-tailored training with general education to offer the best undergraduate education in the country. Today this University has developed into a comprehensive institute on three campuses, namely Pukou, Xianlin, and Gulou, with floor space of more than 1,000,000 square meters and a total area of more than 200 hectares.

It has produced 78 young scientists to win the Young Scientist Award in 1992 and 25 to win the National Prominent Science and Technology Award.

STUDENTS

Nanjing University is considered a home to about 35,000 students. About 2,500 of these students are international from all over the world.

Living in the capital of Jiangsu, NJU is an exciting place to be. It offers a vast range of athletic, cultural, and social activities to the students, staff, and faculty. Here students get a chance to build a community of like-minded people. Students here are full of ideals of public services and the responsibility to help people with sincerity and love.

Clubs and organizations at Nanjing University offer a chance for students to engage in cultural exchange and communications. To full play with creativity, students here work together in the social investigation, academic research and innovation workshops. Several art performances in NJU include Beijing Opera, cross-talk, drama, piano, magic, rock, hip-hop, etc.

ACCOMMODATIONS

The on-campus residence offers well-equipped air conditioning rooms with excellent Internet access. But as the University is highly populated, it is not possible to accommodate everyone. In such a case, self-paying students are left with the off-campus residence.

You can find economically suitable hotels near University during the first year. In later years, you may rent an apartment. You may consult with senior students before making any move.
