The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) is a public research university in Norway with a major campus in Trondheim and minor campuses in Gjøvik and Ålesund.
The primary focus of NTNU is the studies of science and technology. In addition to engineering and the scientific and physical sciences, the institution also provides graduate degrees in social sciences, arts, medicine and health sciences, teacher education, architecture, and visual arts.
Each year, the research team is involved in around 2000 R&D initiatives. Additionally, they conduct 20 to 30 scientific conferences yearly. To assist in closing the gap between academics and business, NTNU employees work closely with the SINTEF Group and Allforsk, the two main research foundations.
NTNU is the biggest university in Norway, with more than 40,000 students and more than 8,000 workers. The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) welcomes students from all over the globe and provides more than 60 international masters and doctoral degrees taught entirely in English.
In 2011, NTNU received 84,797 applications and enrolled 19,054 students, of whom 9,062 were female. 6,193 students were enrolled in the Faculty of Social Sciences and Technology Management, 3,518 in the Faculty of Engineering Science and Technology, 3,256 in the Faculty of Humanities, 3,090 in the Faculty of Information Technology, Mathematics and Electrical Engineering, 2,014 in the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology, 1,071 in the Faculty of Medicine, and 605 in the Faculty of Law.
The Office of International Relations assigns housing to international and exchange students at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. Typically, all students are assigned housing for the spring semester.
Many international students are assigned accommodation in Student Welfare Organization buildings. However, not all international students are guaranteed housing; thus, some must rent in private.
There is no lack of private housing in the city; however, it might be challenging to acquire housing at the beginning of the fall semester if you wish to live in the city centre or near the university.
Most NTNU's foreign master's degree students enrolling in a full degree programme are provided student housing. However, students with a master's degree who reside in Norway or another Nordic country will not be accepted for student housing.
