ABOUT

The Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, PCU, also called UC, was established in 1888. It is Chile's oldest and most prestigious university. Also, it is one of the two Pontifical universities and one of the six catholic universities in the country. They offer various disciplines to students and notable institutes and centres in the university. 

There are 1,652 academic employees overall. The goal of building this university was to establish a facility that could combine academic brilliance with training which should be based on Christian doctrine.

There are four campuses of UC Chile in Santiago and one in Villarrica. The campuses in Santiago are:

  • San Joaquín (in the Macul Commune of Greater Santiago)
  • Lo Contador ( in the Providencia Commune of Greater Santiago)
  • Casa Central (in downtown Santiago)
  • Oriente (in the Ñuñoa Commune of Greater Santiago)

Their notable institutes and centres are as follows.

STUDENTS

PCU hosts a total of 27,000 students. This university has a total of 33,769 students. There are a total of 29,212 undergraduates and 4,557 postgraduates. It is home to many locals and international students. 

About 3% of students at PUC are foreigners. Over 2100 professionals make up the teaching faculty. The university actively participates in international initiatives that promote student intellectual exchange across educational institutions. International students may apply to the PCU if their home university has an agreement with the university.

All pupils have access to the library. Students have access to the university's sporting facilities on campus.

ACCOMMODATION

It is essential to know that they do not provide any accommodation for the students. Therefore, students have to find housing for themselves in the nearby area to the university.
