ABOUT

The University of Hong Kong (HKU) is an English-language public research university in Hong Kong. It is founded in 1911. Its roots can be traced back to the Hong Kong College of Chinese Medicine. It is Hong Kong's oldest tertiary institution. It offers degrees in the following fields:

There are 8,266 academic employees overall. HKU offers education in the English medium. There are eleven academic faculties at HKU, and English is the language of instruction at all of them.

  • Tang Chi Ngong building

  • Centennial campus

The university is a founding member of Universitas 21, a global alliance of research-focused universities. It is also a part of the Association for Pacific Rim Universities, the Association of Commonwealth Universities, and the McDonnell International Scholars Academy at Washington University in St. Louis.

Numerous prominent alumni from the University of Hong Kong have excelled in a wide range of professions. These include Dr. Sun Yat-sen, the founder of the Republic of China and alumnus of the HKU's forerunner, the Hong Kong College of Medicine for Chinese. Also, SAR Government’s Executive Council, Legislative Council members and many others. Many significant private sector businesses have senior management teams made up entirely of HKU alumni.

STUDENTS

The university has 29,791 students. This institute has 17,106 undergraduates and 9,813 postgraduates. 

It is a globally connected campus with students from 96 countries. The top university in Hong Kong for foreign students is the University of Hong Kong. These enrollments include 43% overseas students. There are 4,000 students from other countries. Over 1,300 international exchange students are accepted by HKU each year.

That makes it a great opportunity for students to enjoy the multi-cultures and learn from the experience. Almost 99 per cent of their graduates have received job offers in each consecutive academic year. Not only this, their graduated students got jobs in giant companies like Google, Goldman Sachs and Apple

ACCOMMODATION

The University of Hong Kong is great in terms of accommodation. It is because they have 17 residential halls and four residential colleges. Their other residence include Patrick Manson Student Residences. Other than this, many private hostel opportunities are availble for students in the nearby to their campuses.
