Unitec Institute of Technology

Situated in Auckland, the Unitec Institute of Technology is one of the largest institutes for technology in New Zealand. It offers short courses, diplomas and master's degrees in 128 programs. The institute operates at one main campus on the Mt Albert site and two sub-campuses in Henderson and Albany; throughout the north shore, there are various pop-ups. Unitech also offers programs overseas.

At Unitec Institute of Technology, emphasis in all areas is on a lot of practical and theoretical learning. The teaching method here differs from the conventional university-level education model, predominantly theory. For example, In School of Computing Science offers an IBM internship program at Mt Albert Campus. Also, in partnership with New Zealand Police, the university offers an Introduction to Policing Course.

Campuses of the university constantly buzz with students of different backgrounds, nationalities and all ages. Here always something is going on-from adventure trips out of Auckland to social events on campus. They have many facilities and services on campuses, from childcare to shops.

Unitec Institute of Technology is home to about 20,000 students. Most of the students are New Zealand nationals but also international students.

In Unitec Institute of Technology, it has a central hub for staff and students named "Te Puna", which is dedicated to helping students. Here you will find all student services like the main Library, food outlets, ad health centre.

Unitech has New Zealand's largest training facilities for open plan trades named "Mataaho", which is aimed to signify a modern work site. Using simulation and emulation tools, students work and learn together. It is not dedicated to any specific discipline; students from different departments work and learn here.

Te Puna Kararehe is the animal behaviour and husbandry centre. It is home to creatures of all sizes and shapes. This centre provides a secure place for the student to learn and research a wide range of animal species.

In the Sports Centre of Unitech, students have facilities for the stadium and a fully equipped fitness centre.

Like most public universities, the Unitec Institute of Technology also provides a residence place.
