ABOUT

Situated in Basel, Switzerland, the University of Basel was founded on 4 April 1460. It is the most reputed higher educational institution in the country. This institute has a history 500 years old. It is included in the list of the world's oldest existing universities. 

The Basel University Library is Switzerland's most extensive library. This institute has numerous faculties like Law, Medicine, Social Sciences, Science, Psychology, Theology, Humanities, and Business & Economics. Interdisciplinary centres such as the Biozentrum for biomedical research and the Institute for European Global Studies are also hosted here. 

Two Swiss Presidents and a Nobel laureate are connected with this historic university. Also, numerous noted philosophers and other famous religious personalities have been part of this institute. These include Carl Gustav Jung, Karl Barth, Paracelsus, Leonhard Euler, Jacob Burckhardt, Erasmus of Rotterdam, Friedrich Nietzsche, Tadeusz Reichstein, Karl Jaspers, Jeanne Hersch and Daniel Bernoulli.

This university has approximately 13,139 students. Their international students are 27%.

Student Services office of the University of Basel assists by providing information on applications, grants, mobility, exchanges, and disability services. 

Among many on campus organizations, there is a Model United Nations (MUN) team, foreign affairs and religious association. Moreover, international students can join groups that provide services to communities.

ACCOMMODATION

The university does not provide accommodation, but it has the Foundation Guesthouse, which Post-Doctoral students can use for one year.
