ABOUT

The University of Chinese Academy of Sciences is a successor of the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, which was established in 1978 as the first graduate school in China. This institute graduated the first doctoral student in engineering, the first doctoral student in science, and the first female doctoral student in China.

This institution offers a complete set of disciplinary systems with a unique and wide range of disciplines. UCAS has prominent research and teaching environment in physics, chemistry, mathematics, earth sciences, astronomy, and biology in natural sciences, as well as material, mechanics, energy, automatic controls, and computers in engineering. It also offers 224 programs in master's degrees in the disciplines of philosophy, economics, education, law, natural science, engineering, management sciences and agriculture.

UCAS has 193 programs offering doctoral degrees. Moreover, the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences also offers one professional doctoral degree program in engineering. Also,  this institution has 177 post-doctoral research stations.

They have four campuses in Beijing and five education centres outside Beijing. With the support of the 115 Chinese Academy of Sciences institutes throughout China, it carries out the institution's guiding principle. It has improved and expanded in two phases: core course teaching is centralized on main Beijing campuses and scientific research in its various institutes. This university has a highly qualified faculty and a first-class research environment for students to fulfil their scientific studies.

STUDENTS

Being China's largest institute for Graduate education, UCAS has actively involved itself in the surge of China's educational internationalization. The establishment of this institute aims to boost the development of the university's internationalization. As a result, it will attract international students to its multinational academic atmosphere.

Even though the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences mainly caters to graduate education, the institute started enrolling undergraduate students in 2014. In 2015 there were 664 undergraduate and 44,664 graduate students.

Through its various departments and research institutes of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, UCAS offers a wide range of research fields and specialities to international students. These include Master's and PhD programs, Regular Visiting Students Program and Senior Visiting Students Program.
