The University of Rochester is in Rochester, New York. It is a leading private research institute in the United States. Sports are highly encouraged by the University of Rochester. This institute has developed the Department of Athletics and Recreation, which follows the mission to provide all aspects of athletic education. This department encourages both men and women in sports. University has a total of 11 men's teams and 12 women's teams in 23 different varsity sports.

This institute has a highly residential campus. University of Rochester's on-campus living is considered a significant part of Rochester's college experience. Therefore, most students call the campus home for four years of study. However, first and second-year students must live on campus.

Other than the above-mentioned rankings, the UR's Eastman School of Music ranks first in the U.S. among undergraduate music schools. The Sibley Music Library at this school holds the third most extensive collection of academic music in the United States. In history, alumni of this faculty have earned 45 Grammy Awards.
