ABOUT

University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) was established by the Chinese Academy of Science (CAS) in 1958. CAS has supported this University by Pooling efforts for developing and integrating its institutes with corresponding departments. The University's primary purpose was to improve the Chinese economy and military strength. So, it does have a distinction in scientific and technical research. Apart from that, the University has progressed in a subject like humanities for the past few years.

Since 1978, the University of Science and Technology of China has enjoyed China's top priority in construction projects. This institute has persisted in the mission to build a Global University and Educate the Brilliant around the globe. USTC has continued to carry reforms in scientific research and teaching, building the University into a top-notch educational and research institution as a source of knowledge for innovative talents. The core value of USTC is to Strive for Excellence, Commit to Quality, and Serve China through Innovation and Excellence.

STUDENTS

Shanghai Jiao Tong University is considered a home to about 18,000 students. It does not allow many international students, but there are about 1,000 international students at USTC.

Established in 2016, The Foreign Students Association of USTC is the University's representative body for the international student community. Members of this association are from all around the world. This union is responsible for the promotion of publicity of student activities, organizing academic, cultural, sports and entertainment activities, and dealing with international student problems. The community here strives for the welfare of international students.

The Physical Education Department of UTSC manages all sports facilities in the University. This University has two gyms, 2 football fields, 1 badminton gymnasium, 10 tennis courts and several gymnastics and table tennis rooms.

The library at the University has three branches covering a total area of 35,000 square meters with a seating capacity of 3,000 students in 20 reading rooms. Here students get rich resources of knowledge. 

ACCOMMODATIONS

Students at the USTC are accommodated in the on-campus residence. The international students may apply online and select their preferences for a two-bedroom or three-bedroom apartment. To rent a private space, you must register at the local police station within 24 hours of finding the place.
