All of the schools and departments at the university are a part of one of the four faculties; the faculties of arts, medicine, divinity, and science.

St. Andrews enrolls almost 10,425 students, 8,260 undergraduates and 2,164 postgraduates each year. The demographic profile of the university is highly distinctive, with more than 45% of its students and staff coming from outside the UK. At St. Andrews University, 287 students take online classes.

Accommodation

The University of St Andrews has around 4,000 spaces and a fantastic variety of accommodation available to suit all tastes and budgets of its prospective students. All first-year undergraduate students are guaranteed a place in a hall if they meet specific criteria. Moreover, there are loads of private accommodation options for students in the town of St. Andrews.

Among Scottish universities, St. Andrews is known for having many students living in the university's housing. As of 2012, 52% of students were living in university halls. 

Every first-year student is guaranteed a place to live, and many stay in halls for their second, third, and final years at St. Andrews. Since September 2015, students at David Russell Apartments have been able to choose to live in alcohol-free flats if they have a medical condition that doesn't let them drink or if they don't want to drink for religious reasons.
