Established in 1636, Utrecht University is among the oldest research institutes in the Netherlands. The Utrecht University follow the motto "Sol Iustitiae Illustra Nos," which means May the Sun of Righteous Enlighten Us. It was gleaned from the Latin Bible Translation of Malachi 4:2. This University has a historical connection with Rutgers University, which uses a modified version of this motto.
