Citizenship by Investment Jordan

About

With the passage of its investment promotion act in 1999, Jordan pioneered naturalization by investment. Foreign investors never found the Jordan citizenship by investment (CBI) scheme to be very appealing, but it has recently made a comeback.

Jordan has remained reasonably secure in a troubled region, and many high-net-worth individuals (HNWI) from the Middle East are now looking for protection in another nation. But still, because of its limited benefits, the visa is of the most traction to those who are already long-term investors. It helps them in improving their relations with the country.

Apart from Jordan, most middle eastern countries do not offer citizenship. Even Bahrain offers a Global Residence visa for a limited amount of time.

Eligibility

An investment of 1.5 million USD is needed to become a citizen of Jordan. Options include:

  • A five-year bank deposit that pays no interest.
  • A five-year, 1 million USD investment in SMEs.
  • Treasuries must be held for at least ten years.
  • Five-year investment of 1.5 million USD in securities.
  • 2 million USD over three years in any region of the nation (1.5 USD million outside of Amman), provided that the initiative generates at least 20 jobs.

Documents

You must provide the following documents while applying for this visa;

  • A passport with two blank pages that is still valid for at least another six months.
  • Recent photographs attached to the documents as per the visa regulations.
  • Sufficient funds to cover the visa charge
  • Evidence of having enough money to support yourself during your visit.
  • Proof that you do not have any medical or criminal history.
  • Prove that you have the investment required for this visa.

Process

Once you have fulfilled all the conditions and requirements, the further step is to apply for a visa. The process of application can be undertaken online or offline. But before getting into that, you should know when to apply.

Visa Processing Time
The processing time for any visa in Jordan differs from person to person depending mainly on your nationality. If you have met all the requirements, the visa will be issued within a couple of months. However, it can take longer, so you should apply as early as possible.

How to Apply
As mentioned earlier, the application can be made both online and offline. You may visit the nearest embassy, apply for a visa and fulfil the necessities. After that, all you can do is wait for the confirmation.

Duration & Fees

Duration
The visa is launched to provide a way to foreigners to settle in this Middle Eastern country. Thus, once you have made the investments, you may stay there for an indefinite amount of time.

Fees
You are advised to visit the nearest embassy or contact them by any means to know the exact processing fee. This fee must be submitted in addition to the investments you are making in the country. You should arrange at least 200 JOD as a visa processing fee while applying for this visa.

Extension

As stated earlier, the process offers you a right to have citizenship in Jordan. Thus, there is not much to worry about extending this visa.
