ABOUT

Family Reunification Visa for Austria allows family members of third-country nationals to reside in the country. The family member who intends to settle in the country for more than six months requires a residence title. This visa leads to this title called Red-White-Red Card for Residence permit.

According to the Settlement and Residence Act context, family members are spouses or registered partners aged 21 years or older, unmarried minors, including step and adoptive children.

Family members of Austrian nationals and holders of Red-White-Red Card, Long-term residence title, Settlement permit, and Red-White-Red Card Plus can apply for Austria Family Reunification Visa.

Note that sometimes there is a quota requirement for this Family Reunification Visa. 

ELIGIBILITY

  • Applicants of this Austria Family Reunification Visa must have adequate means of subsistence which enable him/her to meet their livelihood in the country. Standard income rates in 2022 have amounted to 1625 EUR for married couples, 1030 EUR for singles and 159 EUR for each child.
  • All applicants must have health insurance which covers all risks.
  • Visa applicants for this visa must have evidence of adequate accommodation according to local standards.
  • Evidence of German language skill on A1 level according to CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).

DOCUMENTS

The following documents are particularly needed for Austria's Family Reunification Visa.

  • A valid travel document for adult applicants, this requirement is waived in case of a child within six months after birth.
  • Birth certificates in case of the child within six months after birth.
  • Photo of the applicant, which must not be older than six months.
  • Evidence for adequate housing arrangement according to local standards, including lease contracts, property ownership, or preliminary property contracts.
  • Health Insurance evidence that provides all benefits and covers all risks in Austria. You must submit the corresponding insurance policy unless insurance coverage exists or will exist.
  • Proof for means of secure subsistence (pay certificate, pay slip, employment contracts, pension certificates from state, pension insurance benefits, owned assets or evidence of adequate invested capital).
  • Proof of residence title of applicant’s sponsor in Austria.
  • Proof of German language skills.

Some additional documents are required when applicable (marriage certificates, divorce certificates, adaptation papers and evidence concerning the family relationship).
