About

The Global Talent Visa is intended for talented people from all over the world who want to work in the UK's humanities, arts, technology, and other fields. Suppose you are a leader or a potential leader in one of the abovementioned areas. In that case, you may apply for this visa to work in the UK.

Eligibility

Additionally, you must be at least 18 years old. You can only apply for a Global Talent Visa once you have been endorsed as a leader or potential leader through a successful endorsement application. If you've received an eligible prize, you can apply for the visa without needing an endorsement.

You can apply for an endorsement if you work in one of the following fields:

Documents

When you apply, you must submit:

  • a current passport or other proof of identity and citizenship.
  • if you are from a nation where you must take the test, the results of your tuberculosis test.

You will also need formal authorisation from the organisation or government that awarded you the scholarship or award to apply if you received one in the previous year for study in the UK. The Home Office will check publicly accessible information (such as the website of the award organisation) to verify your winnings if you are the recipient of an eligible award. If they can't discover this, you won't be questioned about your victory until they can.

Process

 

You must possess one of the following things before applying for a Global Talent visa: 

  • Won an eligible award
  • Successfully applied for an endorsement to demonstrate that you are a pioneer or a future pioneer in your field.

If you have an endorsement, you may use it to apply for this visa.

  • You have received support from an organisation that the Home Office has approved. 
  • Within three months of getting your endorsement letter, you're applying. 
  • The organisation that gave you its endorsement has not taken it back.

You can avail the option of applying online for a Global Talent Visa. If they qualify, your partner and kids must submit separate applications using your application number to travel or join you in the UK.

When to Apply
The earliest you can apply is usually: 3 months before your planned travel date for visit visas.

Visa Processing Time
Once you've submitted an online application, verified your identification, and presented your papers, a decision on your visa is often made within: 

  • 3 weeks - if you're outside the UK
  • 8 weeks - if you're inside the UK

Duration & Fees

Duration
For a maximum of five years at a time, you may reside and work in the UK. You may stay in the UK for an unlimited period, but you must renew ('extend') your visa when it expires. Depending on how long you want the extension to be, it can remain anywhere between 1 to 5 years. 

Depending on your line of employment and how you apply, you might be able to obtain indefinite leave to remain so you can reside in the UK after 3 or 5 years. You now have the freedom to stay in this country as long as you wish, work here, study here, and, if you qualify, ask for benefits.

Fees
Application fees are £608 each. 

 if your application is based on an endorsement, the £608 will be split into two payments:

  • £456 when applying for the endorsement
  • £152 when applying for the visa itself

When you apply for the visa, you must pay the entire £608 if your application is based on an award that qualifies. 

Each applicant's spouse and minor children must pay £608 if they are included in the application. Besides this, you'll also need to pay the healthcare fee, typically £624 per applicant each year.

Extension

You can apply for prolonging your stay in the UK if either:

  • Based on an endorsement, you applied for the Global Talent visa, and the organisation that gave it you hasn't revoked it. 
  • A valid award you received served as the basis for your application for a Global Talent visa. Also, the award has not been revoked.

You must be able to provide documentation with your application, such as payslips, to demonstrate that you made money in your field of expertise while you were in the UK. 

Your partner or kids must submit a separate application to extend their visa. They can apply either at the same time as you or whenever their existing visa expires. Before your existing visa expires, you should apply. 

The Global Talent category is open to applicants with a Tier 1 (Exceptional Talent) Visa. 

Your visa may be extended for up to five years at a time. If you continue to meet the requirements, you may renew your visa as often as possible.
