About

The qualified investor program or the golden visa for Panama is considered one of the most efficient ways to gain permanent residency. The best part is that there is no need for a continuous physical presence in the country. Foreign investors may choose to invest in real estate, bank deposits, or securities.

Eligibility

The applicant must make one of the following eligible investments:

  • Investment in Panama real estate for five years totaling 300,000 USD (or 500,000 USD commencing on October 15, 2022); or
  • 550,000 USD in over 5 years in Panamanian securities; or
  • 750,000 USD deposited in over 5 years in a Panama bank that has been approved.

Apart from that, the applicant may have to pay an extra 2,000 USD for each dependent.

Documents

The applicant must fulfil the following requirements while applying for this visa.

  • Provide identity documents, including a passport.
  • Coloured photographs as per the instruction in the visa regulations.
  • A thoroughly filled visa application form.
  • Documents of dependents, if any.
  • The candidate must provide proof of investment in Panama in order to be considered.
  • The investment capital must come from abroad.
  • Additionally, the investment must be kept for a minimum of five years.

Process

After having all the documents mentioned above, you may apply for this visa. The process of application is online but you can also visit the nearest consulate.

Visa Processing Time
There is no definite time needed to process a visa application. However, in most cases, it is processed within a month. So, you should apply for at least a couple of months before you want to move to Panama.

How to Apply
Follow these steps while applying for a qualified investor program.

  • Submit application and supporting materials.
  • A letter confirming the acceptance of the applicant's request for permanent residency will be sent to the successful candidates.
  • If necessary, you might have to go to the nearest embassy.

The residency-by-investment or Panama Qualified Investment Program normally demands a minimum investment of 300,000 USD. You may stay in the nation for at least five years once you acquire the visa. To keep the permit, you must visit at least once every two years.

Fees
The Panama government's immigration fee for the Qualified Investor immigration program is 5,000 USD. This is the national migration fee for the main applicant. An additional fee is required for each dependent.

Extension

The visa holder may file for an extension after five years. It can lead to permanent residence in the country. You must maintain the investments in the country and keep visiting at least once in two years.
