With a Remote Work Visa, you can live in the UAE while continuing to work for your current employer outside of the country.

The UAE cabinet passed a new Remote Work Visas scheme to allow employees from worldwide to work remotely. Thus they have a goal of attracting talents and expertise from all over the world.

The visa is only suitable for a year. The one-year programs allow foreign nationals to enter the UAE on their initiative and work per the visa's terms and conditions.

You must earn a monthly salary of at least USD 5,000 to get this visa. Further, you can have a multiple-entry visa to go outside UAE and return any time you wish. But you cannot be outside of the country for a duration of 6 months. Otherwise, your visa will not remain valid.

You can get all kinds of services through the virtual working programme, including medical care, utilities, telecommunications, and education. Dubai's solid and smooth digital infrastructure, global networking opportunities, and zero income tax for individuals make it a heaven for digital nomads.

Eligibility

To be eligible:

  • You should live and work outside the UAE.
  • You can be an entrepreneur.
  • Have health insurance in UAE.

Documents

  • If you're an employee, you'll need to show proof of employment and a one-year contract from your present workplace. 
  • Submit your last month's pay stub and three months' worth of bank statements.

If you are a company owner, you need to:

  • provide proof of ownership of the company for one year or more.
  • have an average monthly income of USD 5,000 per month.
  • submit bank statements of the company's account for the preceding three months.

Process

To apply for the programme, you need to have a passport with a validity of a minimum of six months. Also a valid health insurance covering your residency in the UAE.

When to Apply
You should have at least one year contract from your employer. If you are a business owner, your company must be at least a year old.

Visa Processing Time
The visa may be processed in a few weeks or months. It depends upon the information you provided and the validity of your documents.

How to Apply
You need to apply online. But it can be not very easy in several cases. Thus, you are advised to contact a visa consultant for that purpose.

Duration & Fees

Duration
The programme is valid for one year and renewable upon re-application.

Fees
The fee for the virtual working programme is USD 287 per person. In addition, you need to pay the premium for medical insurance valid in the UAE and the processing fees. Note that paying a processing fee does not guarantee approval of the application.

Extension

After the expiry of the visa, you can apply for renewal. You have to submit a renewal application to authorities.
