ABOUT

This Settlement Visa for Austria allows you to reside in the country for more than a period of 6 months. This visa will enable you to get a residence title called Red-White-Red Card. This card is a permit which allows you to stay in the country for more than 6 months. If you plan to live in the country for less than 6 months, you don’t require this permit.

This residence permit is granted to some specific people who have a valid reason to stay and live in the country. This Settlement Visa entitles the holder to pursue dependently employed and self-employed activities. 

ELIGIBILITY

  • The adequate mean of subsistence which enables them to meet their livelihood without resorting to local authorities for welfare aid.
  • Applicants must have health insurance coverage which covers all risks in Austria.
  • Accommodation arrangement according to local standards.
  • German language skill at A1 level according to CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).

DOCUMENTS

  • Passport or any other valid travel document.
  • Applicants’ photographs, which must not be old than six months.
  • If you are employed in Austria, then you must provide a declaration according to “Ausländerbeschäftigungsgesetz”.
  • For self-employment, you must provide a declaration contract.
  • If you are applying for Visa on Artistic bases, you must provide proof of artistic education or previous artistic work.
  • The researchers applying for this Visa must submit a contract of employment at an Austrian University.
  • Proof of regular and adequate monthly income.
  • A health insurance policy which covers all risks in Austria.

PROCESS

The first application for Settlement Visa must be filed with a competent Austrian consulate in your country of residence. Then this local competence will forward your application to Austrian authorities after examining the completeness and correctness of the application. With the approval of Austrian authorities, you are granted this Visa.

The cost of an Austria Settlement Visa is around 160 EUR, including a 120 EUR Application fee, 20 EUR granting price and 20 EUR for the cost of personalization (signature, fingerprints, photography).

EXTENSION

You must apply for a renewal of the Visa before your previous visa expires. Allow plenty of time for visa processing. You must demonstrate a valid reason to extend your stay.
