About

A Special Work Permit is issued to foreign nationals who would be working in the Philippines for 3 to 6 months with the possibility of extension or renewal. If the foreign national needs to continue working on a project in the Philippines after his SWP expires, he can apply for a work permit.

Eligibility

The following persons are eligible for a Special Work Permit.

  • Professional athletes who compete for a brief amount of time.
  • Aliens with a high level of quality and the ability to provide excellent temporary services.
  • Artists and performers who charge the audience for their act after meeting the PAMURI or Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mang-aawit (OPM) standards.
  • A qualified foreign journalist pursuing a career in the nation.

Documents

The following are the requirements for acquiring a Special Work Permit (SWP) in the Philippines.

  • The petitioning company sent a letter to the commissioner requesting information.
  • Consolidated General Application Form (CGAF) duly completed.
  • Original passport with a valid visa for admission.
  • Contract of Service that specifies the length of service, remuneration and perks, and scope of responsibilities.
  • Philippines Bureau of Immigration (BI) Approval Certificate.

Process

To obtain a Special Work Permit, you have to be a foreign national who is currently on a temporary Tourist Visa and wants to work legally in the Philippines for three to six months.

Visa Processing Time
It usually takes 2–3 weeks for the SWP to be approved. The Bureau of Immigration will submit a formal Special Work Permit order of approval, which will be used as a Work Permit.

The following is the procedure for obtaining a Special Work Permit in the Philippines.

  • CGAF must be accessed through BI's main office or website.
  • For pre-screening, submit all relevant papers.
  • Make the needed payment.
  • Obtain Special Work Permit approval.
  • Claim SWP if accepted.

Fees
This visa costs 6,440 PHP with or without the I-card.

Extension

During the initial application, the SWP is valid for three months and can be extended for another three months.
