A Student Visa is for students attending college or university in the UAE. The student should be 18 plus. Family members of exceptional students will be eligible for visa benefits as well.

Can I work with a student visa in UAE?

With a Student Visa, you can only work in the UAE if you also have a UAE Work Permit. Furthermore, you are not permitted to work full-time: you can only work for four hours in a row.

How much do students earn in UAE?

During summer breaks or periods, students can work up to 40 hours per week, or 160 hours per month. You can expect to earn between 15 and 30 AED per hour when working.

ELIGIBILITY

The following are the requirements for obtaining a 5-year visa.

  • Students in secondary schools, whether public or private, must graduate with a grade of at least 95%. 
  • University students from both within and out of the country must have a GPA of at least 3.75 to graduate. 
  • Students' age needs to be 18 years old or more than this.

Process

Residents can obtain a student visa in the UAE by sponsoring their children or enrolling in one of the UAE's accredited universities or colleges. Visa authorities process visa applications in each emirate, represented by the pertinent General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs.

You may apply after getting admission to a university or school in UAE.

Visa Processing Time
The visa may take 15-20 days to process. Depending on your documents and other factors, it may also take up to a month.

How to Apply
International students and those already living in the country can obtain a visa from approved universities and colleges. To learn about particular entry requirements and the visa process, students should consult the terms and conditions mentioned in each university or college.

Expatriate parents may choose to continue to sponsor their female children for study, regardless of their children's age. The exception is for male students who continue their studies in one of the higher educational institutes in the UAE or abroad. UAE laws do not allow resident expatriates to continue sponsoring their male children above 18.

Duration & Fees

Duration
A student visa to UAE is valid for five years. A student visa is for one year only. It can be renewed for a similar period if official proof of continued study is provided by the relevant higher educational institute of the UAE in which the student is enrolled.

Fees
The visa will cost AED 1000 for the first time issuing and renewal.

EXTENSION

You can stay in UAE for one year. After that, you can renew it by showing your remaining course time certificate.
