About

All foreign nationals visiting Chile with the intention of relocating there due to family links with Chileans, making investments there, or whose residency is deemed advantageous or valuable to the nation must obtain a Temporary Resident Visa. 

For a maximum of one year, the bearer of this type of visa is permitted to work, study, and/or do business. A Dependent Temporary Resident Visa, which does not permit employment, may be requested by the applicant's parents, spouse, or children. The original marriage or birth certificate must attest to the relationship with the primary applicant.

Eligibility

This type of visa is for;

  • official members of the church
  • persons starting their work as technical advisors for foreign or Chilean entities.

Documents

The requirements are the following.

  • A valid passport
  • Three passport-size photos.
  • Health certificates attesting to the petitioner's good health and absence of any contagious or infectious diseases.
  • Police background report on criminal activity
  • Application letter outlining the duration and reasons for staying in Chile to the consul.
  • The details of your financial status must be stated clearly. (It might be a monthly pay slip or another financial statement).
  • Location in Chile. The spouse must complete and sign the application if the applicant is married.
  • It is advisable to include the applicant's phone number and the intended departure date.

Process

Before applying for this visa, you should make sure you meet all the requirements to be eligible for this visa. You may apply a couple of months before you want to move to the country.

Visa Processing Time
It takes approximately 4 weeks to complete the process. The applicant has 90 days from when the visa is issued to enter the nation.
