Except for travellers from India, who need a permit, everyone travelling to Bhutan needs a visa. Maldives and Bangladeshi nationals are eligible to obtain visas at the port of entry. Swiss and Thai nationals with diplomatic or official passports are also eligible for a visa upon arrival at the port of entry.  

Eligibility

The eligibility criteria for obtaining a tourist visa for Bhutan are as follows:

  • All visitors from abroad need a tourist visa, with the exception of citizens of India, Bangladesh, and the Maldives, who must go through a different procedure.
  • Indian nationals must have permission, which can be ordered online, through a travel agency, or through a hotel.
  • Visas can be obtained through an online process or at the airport for visitors from Bangladesh and the Maldives.
