Visa Processing Time
From the time the visa application is received, processing requires a minimum of three working days. To avoid any issues for your business, it is generally a good idea for staff to apply for visas well in advance.
How to Apply
The Government of India website provides information on how to apply for a work visa in India. An employee must fill out and submit an online visa application in order to obtain an Indian work visa.
Along with the necessary identification documents, they must print out a hard copy of the complete application and deliver it to the Indian consulate in their area. The applicant can pick up the visa at the embassy or have it mailed to them if the application is approved.
Duration
The typical duration of an Indian work visa is one year. They are even eligible for extensions and have a maximum five-year validity. Additionally, workers should be informed that their visa's validity period starts on the day it is issued, not the day they arrive in India.
Fees
The processing fee for a work visa to India varies depending on your nationality. For US citizens it costs 160 USD. As for other nationalities, you may be granted the visa for as low as 120 USD.
The FRRO / FRO in question may, on an annual basis, extend the employment visa for up to an additional five years from the date of issuance of the initial employment visa, beyond the initial visa validity period.
