Germany to Deport Foreigners Supporting Terrorist Acts

Germany

#deport

#crime

Germany has approved a proposal to deport foreigners who support or approve of terrorist acts. This includes social media comments praising such crimes.

The new law doesn't require a criminal conviction for deportation if the offence falls under Section 140 of the Criminal Code. Interior Minister Nancy Faeser emphasized the need for strict immigration laws to enhance public security.

The law targets those celebrating terrorist attacks, such as recent events in Mannheim and attacks by Hamas on Israel. Europol reports show that terrorism-related arrests, especially for jihadist acts, are most common in the EU, with Germany being significantly affected.

Bulgaria and Romania’s Schengen Membership Remains Uncertain Amid Austria's Opposition

Bulgaria Romania

#schengen

Bulgaria and Romania's full Schengen membership faces delays despite progress at air and sea borders. Austria, citing concerns over irregular migration, remains the primary obstacle, particularly for land border integration.

While most EU members support their entry, Austria's stance may hinder the decision expected at the December 2024 EU Council meeting. Hungary strongly backs Bulgaria and Romania, pushing for their inclusion as EU reforms are debated.

The outcome affects free movement, trade, and travel for citizens and migrants. Austria's veto reflects broader EU concerns over immigration, posing challenges for Schengen's future and potential expansion.

Italy Suspends Work Permit Validity for Certain Countries Amid Document Verification

Bangladesh Italy

#workpermit

Due to a rise in counterfeit documents, Italy has suspended the validity of all "Nulla Osta" work authorizations for citizens of several countries, including Bangladesh.

The Italian Embassy in Dhaka announced that work visas will only be issued after the provincial immigration office (SUI) confirms the authenticity of these permits. Starting on October 20, applicants will have their passports returned while the verification process is underway.

Once confirmed, applicants will be notified to resubmit their passports. The validity of the Nulla Osta remains intact during the wait. Processing for other visa categories, such as family, study, and tourism, continues uninterrupted.
