ABOUT

The Humboldt University of Berlin is a research university located in the heart of Berlin. Frederik William III kept the Foundation of this institute in 1810. The main initiative to develop this institution was to follow the groundbreaking principles of Wilhelm von Humboldts. These principles were to practice free research, the unity of teaching and research and corporate responsibility of a higher education establishment.

The HU Berlin invests all its resources in vibrant and innovative teaching and research. The subject diversity of this university spans from humanities to the cultural, social, human, natural and medical sciences. Research work conducted here is focused on processing future concerns and socially relevant topics. Researchers here are constantly striving to find practical solutions and look for new ways to communicate results to the public. The university is known for its professors' breakthroughs in physics and other subjects, including Albert Einstein. Past faculty of this institute were eminent socialists, philosophers, artists, lawyers, mathematicians, and heads of state; among them were Karl Marx, Albert Einstein, Walter Benjamin, Georg Simmel, and Brothers Grimm.

The institute is divided into nine faculties offering programs for 189 disciples from undergraduate to post-doctorate levels. Its main campus is in central Berlin on the Unter den Linden boulevard.

STUDENTS

This institute provides 9 faculties to students, including faculty of Law, Life Sciences, Art and Humanities, and Theology. Here 171 bachelor's and master's level programs are taught, and almost all undergraduate programs are taught in German. However, some postgraduate programs are taught in English.

HU Berlin has a student count of around 36,222, of which 6,229 is international student enrolment. Here the unique course is also taught to the international students, called a non-degree course. In this course, some exceptional students who don't hold a scholarship or any exchange or degree program are taught.

ACCOMMODATION

The HU Berlin only accommodates exchange students. There is no housing for bachelor's and master's students at the university. In some special cases, German and International degree students can apply for their On-Campus Housing when vacancies are available. If you are looking to apply here for accommodation, you must apply in the university's International Office.

Off-Campus housing is the only option for students who cannot secure a place in university housing. Finding accommodation in Berlin is got a little expensive in recent times. Because of high demand, you must do good research to find affordable shared rooms because flats in berlin are now very difficult to afford.
