The University of California is a public institution. University’s academic roots were established in 1882 with the southern branch of California State Normal School. Now, this school is known as San José State University. Back then, the school was absorbed with the official founding of UCLA, which was then made the southern branch of the institute. And this campus is the second-oldest campus in the UC (University of California) chain.
As a public research institute, they follow the mission of the preservation, dissemination, creation, and application of knowledge for the betterment of the world. They offer 337 undergraduate and graduate programs in a wide range of disciplines. UCLA is organized into a college of letters and science and 12 professional schools. UCLA’s athletes compete as bruins in the Pac-12 conference. They have won 119 NCAA team championships. They have made 410 Olympic teams winning a total of 270 Olympic medals. Of which 136 were gold, 71 were silver, and 63 were bronze.
Campus in total includes 163 buildings which cover an area of 419 acres. It is the second smallest campus.
