ABOUT

The University of California is a public institution. University’s academic roots were established in 1882 with the southern branch of California State Normal School. Now, this school is known as San José State University. Back then, the school was absorbed with the official founding of UCLA, which was then made the southern branch of the institute. And this campus is the second-oldest campus in the UC (University of California) chain.

As a public research institute, they follow the mission of the preservation, dissemination, creation, and application of knowledge for the betterment of the world. They offer 337 undergraduate and graduate programs in a wide range of disciplines. UCLA is organized into a college of letters and science and 12 professional schools. The following six schools offer undergraduate programs.

  • Samueli School of Engineering
  • Arts and Architecture
  • Herb Alpert School of Music
  • Luskin School of Public Affairs
  • Nursing
  • Theater, Film and Television

Three of the following schools offer graduate programs in health sciences.

  • Dentistry and Fielding
  • David Geffen School of Medicine
  • Public Health

The remaining Ander School of management, law, education and information studies round out the university.

UCLA’s athletes compete as bruins in the Pac-12 conference. They have won 119 NCAA team championships. They have made 410 Olympic teams winning a total of 270 Olympic medals. Of which 136 were gold, 71 were silver, and 63 were bronze.

Campus in total includes 163 buildings which cover an area of 419 acres. It is the second smallest campus.

STUDENTS

University of California, Los Angeles is truly an international institute in one of the world’s most international cities. Students from all over the world come here. Each year they admit candidates from nearly 90 countries. It is one of the most applied institutes of Public Health in the United States. In fall 2021, they had around 168,000 applications for only undergraduate programs.

They highly discourages applications if you are processing them through an agent or private organization. Their admission department is not partnered with any agent, nor do they have any university representative. So, it is not endorsed that you apply through these mediums.

There is no formula for gaining admission here. Candidates with vastly different credentials apply here. What unifies the perfect student here is just talent and pure passion for exploring what the university has to offer.

ACCOMMODATION

You have on-campus accommodation available. To experience UCLA’s full life, you should go for on-campus housing located in the heart of the institute. And from a short walk, you can access laboratories, libraries, classrooms, and sports facilities. This option also enables you to concentrate on your studies fully.

Surveys show that students living on campus perform better academically. As a part of a diverse community of over 11,000 undergraduates, you have many opportunities to interact and network with others for your academic and personal growth.

Due to the reason that on-campus housing is available in summer only, mostly international students arrange their housing off-campus. There are many private organizations that provide residence halls and furnished apartments.
