The University of North Carolina (also referred to as UNC-Chapel Hill, UNC, Carolina) is a public research university in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. This institutes system's flagship is classified as a Public Ivy or a public institution that provides an academic experience comparable to that of an Ivy League university.

Over 70 different degree programmes are available at the institution. These are administratively separated into 13 professional schools and a primary unit, the College of Arts and Sciences.

Students

The university has a student population of 31,539. They have 19,743 undergraduate and 11,796 postgraduate students. 

UNC-Chapel Hill is generally regarded as one of the best universities for international students. This institute hosts around 2,666 students from almost 106 countries. 

Federal and state financial assistance is only available to students who are USA citizens or qualifying foreign nationals. North Carolina A&T provides several scholarships to its students. But international students are not eligible for loans, grants, or need-based help.

Accommodation

Carolina Housing, UNC-Chapel Hill's on-campus student housing division, strives to offer practical housing that is secure, supportive and inclusive.

On-campus, the Department of Housing and Residential Education manages thirty-two residence halls, grouped into thirteen communities. The first-year students need to live in one of the eight "First-Year Experience" residence halls, most of which are located on the South Campus. In a survey of current UNC students, three UNC Chapel Hill first-year residence halls consistently received the highest marks for first-year housing.
