ABOUT

The University of Tübingen was founded by Count Eberhard V in 1477. This institution was the principal university of the Württemberg kingdom. Today, the German federal state of Baden-Württemberg fund this university. It is one of eleven German Excellence Universities.

It is especially known as the centre of the study in medicine, plant biology, archaeology, law, ancient cultures, theology, philosophy, religious studies and as well as in artificial intelligence. Noted alumni of the University of Tübingen include presidents, judges of both federal and constitutional courts, and EU Commissioners. 11 Nobel laureates, especially in chemistry and medicine, are associated with this university.

Tübingen is one of the “university towns” in Germany. University is expanded throughout the town. However, the University of Tübingen is not a campus institute.

STUDENTS

The University of Tübingen encourages researchers and students to go out into the world and participate in globally networked research projects. This institution is home to 4000 international students from all around the world. Because of 1000 researchers from abroad, Tübingen is a city of cultural and scientific exchange without a border. It has a dense network with partner universities on all continents. Students here make up the one-third total population of the Tübingen town, and these students largely dominate the culture here.

University also offers sports classes and a gym facility. Tübingen has a department of sports sciences, and students here have the opportunity to participate in various team and individual sports. Moreover, exotic sports like martial arts and parachuting are also offered here.

ACCOMMODATION

TU offers student dormitory and residence halls which are good value for money. All these residences are self-catered and usually offer shared kitchens and sanitary facilities. Life in these residences differs widely. Some dorm students do a lot of activities in their free time, which helps them form a close community.

Suppose you are coming here as an international doctoral candidate. In that case, you may apply to the university’s guest apartment for visiting researcher. You must apply for housing through an online application before coming here. Because your application only if you have submitted it online. Note that you can only stay up to 6 months in this living space because of high demand. During this time, you can settle and look for permanent living space.
