About

Those who intend to work in Chile and have a valid work contract from a Chilean employee are granted this visa. Foreigners engaged by a company with a Chilean address are given work permits. It has a two-year maximum validity period. No matter how long you are engaged, the fee remains the same.

Eligibility

You are eligible for this visa if you;

  • are applying to work in Chile.
  • have been invited by a Chilean employer.
  • meet the requirements.

Documents

You must provide the following documents.

  • A valid passport
  • 3 passport-size photographs.
  • Documents attesting to the petitioner's good health and absence of any contagious or infectious diseases.
  • Police background report on criminal activity.
  • Application letter outlining the duration and reasons for remaining in Chile to the Consul.
  • You must give a detailed account of their financial position.
  • Address and the phone number of a contact person who is in Chile.
  • If the applicant is married, their spouse must also complete and sign the application.
  • It's good to add the applicant's phone number and the intended departure date.
  • A job contract from the applicant's employer is also required. A public notary must sign the employment contract and be legalized in Chile. Also needed is the legalization of this document by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

A Work Visa for Chile is processed in around 15-20 days. You should also consider your appointment's timing, which may be several days after your visa has been processed and accepted.

Apply for Work Visa at the Ministry of Internal Affairs. You should apply online, submit the required documents and pay the fee. You may also hire a visa consultant to avoid any trouble.

The visa may sometimes set you back 50 USD or even up to 150 USD. Your country of origin determines it. Once Immigration Chile has accepted the visa, only then is this fee due. They provide you with the bank information and the precise sum as soon as your visa is approved. 

Extension

This type of visa can be held for a maximum of two years. If the applicant wants to remain in the country after this time, they must apply for permanent residency.
