ABOUT

The ETH Zurich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology) is a major technology and natural sciences university. It is prominent for its outstanding education and innovative research and also for applying all findings directly into practice. Due to this fact, ETH provides researchers with an encouraging environment and across-the-board student education.

University has 16 departments which conduct academic education with research. For subjects ranging from physics and chemistry to engineering and architecture.

The ETH consist of two main campuses. These campuses are the Zentrum campus and the Honggerberg campus. The Zentrum campus is also called the Main building. The Main building was constructed in 1858 and is located in the city's heart. As the university expanded into various buildings campus was named Zentrum Campus. The intent of starting the Honggerberg campus on ETH's 150th anniversary was to develop an extensive project named "Science city". In particular, with a goal to transform the campus into an attractive district based on the principle of sustainability.

STUDENTS

ETH prides itself on having over 24,500 students from over 120 countries. These include 4,460 doctoral students from around the globe. Moreover, in 2021 more than 8,600 new students were enrolled, including 3,274 undergraduate students. And the remaining majority were doctoral and postgrad students.

The Sts (student services) department is developed to co-ordinate with international students. To help them prepare for their program's reality and help future students choose their field of study.

A counselling and coaching team is developed to assist matriculate students in choosing their degree program.

ACCOMMODATION

Accommodation is only provided for an international master's degree (MSc) with an excellent scholarship. Including direct doctorate joint master's programs on certain conditions. Note that ETH doesn't facilitate bachelor's students.

Because of the extremely tight housing market, it is advisable to come in advance for a few days to arrange accommodation. However, beware of false advertisements because various websites offer non-existing apartments. But to solve this problem, the housing society of the university has made a housing search platform where various options are published. It has an extensive list of options from which you can beware of fraud. So, you can select the option that suits you the best.

RANKING

ETH Zurich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology) remains the global earth sciences leader. Due to the fact it is ranked top 10 in 15 different disciplines in the latest QS ranking by subjects.

Swiss Federal Institute of Technology is retaining the title of the best university in continental Europe. Including the title of the third-best centre of education in the world.

ETH Zurich is ranked first among swiss universities in computer science, natural sciences and engineering sciences.

Despite being a smaller country, Switzerland offers top 6% of all top-ten educational programs.
