Koç University


Koc University was first established in a temporary building and later moved to the current campus in 2000. It was founded as a non-profit private institute in Istanbul. In 22 years since its establishment, this university has become a leading institution in Turkey. Koc University has 22 undergraduate programs, 29 graduate programs, and 30 doctoral programs. Colleges of Humanities and Social Sciences, Administrative Sciences and Economics, Engineering, Law, Nursing, and Medicine make up Koç University.

The university follows the principal mission to cultivate Turkey’s most talented and competent graduates. They are highly qualified, independent, can think creatively, and confident leaders. Research conducted at Koc University contributes to scientific advancement on an international scale and boosts economic, technological, and social development. This institute attracts the top students from Turkey and beyond because of its good academic structure, research opportunities, and wide range of work options after graduation. Although the university has not been established for long, it hosts about 7,000 students, and around 500 of them are international.

Here students get many extracurricular activities to participate in. The university provides outreach to diverse events, including Dance Festival and Theatre Festivals. SGKM (Koç University’s Sevgi Gönül Cultural Centre) hosts numerous plays, concerts, recitals, movie night events, dance performances, and exhibitions.

Student clubs at Koç University are supportive and friendly. Presently, 75 active student clubs in the university bring together students of mutual interest and help them explore their passion.

The main campus of Koç University has a multi-purpose gym with an open tennis court, an outdoor swimming pool, a soccer field with artificial turf, and an ice rink. The gym has a 156 m running track with a panoramic view of a squash court, dance rooms, cardio room, fitness room, and table tennis section. The place gym is also used for volleyball, handball, and basketball. On the university's West Campus, there is a fitness center, semi-Olympic indoor swimming pools, a table tennis section, and a dance studio.


The on-campus residence offers rooms for one, three, or four students. Live on-campus offers a list of benefits, including comfortable living conditions, company of fellow students, free internet access, and being a few minutes away from the campus. But you can also opt for off-campus residence if you want more independence.
