The Northern University of Malaysia, or Universiti Utara Malaysia, is a Malaysian research institute established in 1984. The University is considered among the most beautiful universities in Malaysia in the northern region and offers studies in different undergraduate and graduate programs. The University is spread over two campuses: the Sintok campus and Kuala Lumpur. The main campus is spread over 1061 hectares, including a considerable forest area.
This University was established primarily to promote and develop management education in Malaysia. The academic programs of the Northern University of Malaysia are especially devoted to providing a wide spectrum of academic programs and intellectual skills in areas of economics, management, accounting, information technology, social work, communications, decision science, international affairs, tourism, hospitality, industrial statics, and communication. The University aims to develop and sustain most of all socio-economic activities in the region with its international pool of human resources and state-of-the-art facilities.

The University has been a welcoming host for about 30,000 national and international students. There are more than 23,000 undergraduate and 5,000 graduate students at the University.
The campus of the Northern University of Malaysia is fully equipped with modern amenities and facilities, including fully air-conditioned and well-equipped classrooms and halls, student lounges and a good internet facility. Main buildings on the UUM campus include the library, the administrative buildings, the academic building, the university Sports Center and Health Center.

Students Accommodation Center or SAC is responsible for taking care of residence for both national and international students. The University administration facilitates both national and international students regarding accommodations. The Northern University of Malaysia has separate hostels for male and female students. All of these hostels provide basic facilities like Cafeteria and laundry.
