The Singapore Management University is an independent public institution in Singapore. Among very few in the world, the university is the only city campus in Singapore. SMU ranks third in Asia, behind the College of Business, City University of Hong Kong and Business School of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in similar specialist institutions. Since its creation in 2000, this university has been providing education on the model of The Wharton School. AMBA, EQUIS and AACSB also award the university triple accreditation.

The city campus of the institute enrols about 10,000 postgraduate and undergraduate students in business administration, accountancy, economics, financial services, law, information systems management, and social sciences.

SMU is organized into 8 schools: Lee Kong Chian School of Business (LKCSB), School of Accountancy (SOA), School of Computing and Information Systems (SCIS), School of Social Sciences (SOSS), Yong Pung How School of Law (YPHSL), College of Graduate Research Studies (CGRS), School of Economics (SOE), and College of Integrative Studies (CIS). 

Students

The university has a student population of almost 10,000 students. SMU offers enriching university life, a constant odyssey of perpetual learning and discovery. Students at the Singapore Management University destiny their learning from the moment they enter university. From over 120 co-curricular activities, students can benefit and meet like-minded friends. These activities offer free rein to explore an interest, lead events, pursue dreams and have an exciting student life at SMU.

ICON (SMU International Connections) organizes initiatives that build connections and friendships between local and international students. It welcomes both Singaporean and International student members, who can together plan activities to enhance cultural understanding between SMU community.

Student Clubs at SMU provide co-curricular activities for personal enrichment. These clubs reside under the 4 non-school Principal Bodies: SMU Sports Union (SSU), The Arts & Cultural Fraternity (ACF), Community Services Sodality (SICS) and SMUXploration Crew (SMUX). There are also several functional and leadership student bodies, self-governing and international student societies and clubs that students can join.

Accommodation

Singapore Management University is centrally located in the city's Bugis-Bras Basah District and within proximity of a wide range of hotels for the convenience of visitors. The university offers fully furnished and modern apartments with all amenities, including private study desks, personal wardrobes, and air-conditioning. University residences provide shared open spaces to interact and live. On-campus residences have recreational facilities, 24-hour security, and a conducive atmosphere for students to learn, live, play and work comfortably, right in the city's heart.
