About

Sogang University is a private institution in Seoul, South Korea. Created in 1960 by the Society of Jesus in Wisconsin Province of the Society of Jesus, it is South Korea's oldest Jesuit institute of higher education. Admission to this institute is highly competitive and selective in the country. Freshman intake of Sogang's belongs to the top 1% of the country's high school academic performance. This institute is regarded as one of the most prestigious elite schools and the country's leading private institute.

Since the Sogang's foundation, it has grown into one of Korea's most important and prestigious institutions. Sogang University seeks academic excellence by providing top-notch education through its exceptional faculty, quality educational programs, world-class research and academic management system built on Jesuit education philosophy. Students

This institute has a student population of over 10000. GSIS Student Council is the representative body for students at Sogang University. The council organizes various activities and helps new students adjust to campus and the new university life. The primary purpose of this GSIS is to promote student welfare, and it also assists in maintaining  GSIS facilities (GSIS lounge, library and multimedia lab etc.)  and organizing official events at the university. 

GSIS Student Council arranges and organizes various activities to enrich the student life experience in Korea. These activities range from one-day trips to movie nights, promoting a sense of closeness among students. The council consist of students from more than 50 countries. It has organized several sports, dance and language clubs to help students create a balance of academic and social life.

Accommodation

Residences for international students are located on the campus in Gonzaga Hall. This dormitory is specially reserved for international students. This lodging has a capacity of 900 beds. It houses students from all over the world and has a multicultural and diverse atmosphere. All foreign undergraduate, postgraduate, special, exchange, and graduate schools are accommodated in this hall. The primary language spoken in this hall is English.
