There have been various theories regarding the establishment of the University of Pisa. Some historians date it back to the 11th or 12th century. However, the university officially received the status 1343, to be precise. The university offers proficient studies in 20 departments with a particular focus on Computer Science, Agriculture, Medicine and Physics.

Today the University of Pisa is among the oldest academic institutions in the world. It is a prestigious modern hub of advanced research and teaching.
