University of Southern Denmark


The University of Southern Denmark (SDU) was created in 1966. Over the years, SDU has interwoven many lives. This institute offers around 115 study programs in social sciences, humanities, health sciences, engineering and natural sciences; graduates of the university are now virtually members of every profession in the international community.

Spread over six campuses, the University of Southern Denmark is a leading research university in Denmark. The university is spread over five faculties, offering studies in 32 departments. It also includes about 11 research centres, thus making sure to improve each day. The university has also created a collaboration with the University of Kiel and the University of Flensburg to offer several joint programs.

This institute works purposefully to create a dialogue between the surrounding society and the university’s researchers. The answer to many societal challenges is found in the SDU’s highly specialized academic environment. The University of Southern Denmark’s cooperation with the business community has resulted in donations from the giants in Danish Industry. In the Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Institute for Production Technology, the main research aera is robot technology. At the Mads Clausen Institute, software design and development is engaged for integration into future intelligent products.


There are more than 30,000 students at the university, studying in various undergraduate and graduate programs. About 15% of the students at the university are international from around the world.

SDU is devoted to ensuring a healthy study environment and high academic standard that offers plenty of educational and social experiences in Denmark. This university has a suitable environment for student associations and organizations. In Danish Culture, participating in association activities is highly encouraged. There is a plethora of communities and clubs in which you can participate according to your interests. At the university, there is a wide variety of student facilities ranging from a Friday bar to a fitness centre to a room for reflection.


The University of Southern Denmark provides accommodations for all international students coming to Denmark. But to secure a proper residence, you should apply as soon as possible. Despite all the efforts by the university, it might not be possible to accommodate everyone. So, you may also have to consider private residence in some cases.
