ABOUT

The University of Twente was first established as a polytechnical institute in 1961. Later in 1986, it was converted into a public university. It was the third polytechnical institute in the Netherlands to become a university. This University is a pioneer in adopting educational reforms, which are courses based on the new bachelor's and master's systems. Thus, students have many options when it comes to combining their academic pursuits.

Research at the University of Twente is accommodated within research institutes for biomedical technology, information technology, nanotechnology and technical medicine, intelligent devices and sustainable energy, geo-information science and behavioural sciences. The research institutes at the University combine a sharp eye for knowledge and scientific excellence, which is highly successful in generating spin-off businesses. This University is an entrepreneurial and dynamic institute.

All educational programs at the University of Twente stimulate entrepreneurial attitudes and accentuate designing solutions for complex problems. It offers post-academic programs, PhD programs and a range of 30 master's and 21 bachelor's degree programs in the technology and social and behavioural sciences field. Undergraduate programs at the University are basic, broad, multidisciplinary, and include a minor, which can be used for a study period abroad or an international internship.

STUDENTS

The University provides a learning path to students from all over the world. There are about 12,000 students who are a part of this institution. It also includes more than 3,500 international students.

The campus of the UT offers many activities like a small city. It provides scientists, professors and talented students with fascinating working, learning and living environment. Students can participate in almost any sport that can be imagined, such as beach volleyball, archery, baseball, and even muggle quidditch. The University has state-of-the-art labs and libraries for sports and fitness facilities.

UT has a diverse and vibrant student community. There are over 100 associations and societies. On Student Union's portal, they have an overview of culture, study, sports, and social and international associations. These societies organize lectures, activities and events for all students. These activities are scheduled almost every day, hosted by student and study societies

ACCOMMODATION

Like most universities, it also doesn't facilitate students with on-campus accommodations. But on the plus side, it does create a link between the landlords and students. Thus, it becomes a bit easier for students to a residence.
