Located in the seaside city of Wollongong, New South Wales, some 80 kilometres south of Sydney, the public research institution is known as the University of Wollongong (abbreviated as UOW). 

The University of Wollongong has grown into a multi-campus organisation on a national and international scale. The main campus of the university, located in Wollongong, covers an area of 82.4 hectares and has 94 permanent buildings. It is located on the original location, five kilometres north-west of the city centre. 

Three campuses in Sydney include the UOW Sydney Business School, the South Western Sydney campus in Liverpool, and the Southern Sydney site in Loftus. Regional universities also have Bega, Batemans Bay, Moss Vale, and Shoalhaven campuses. The university is internationally present in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The University of Wollongong has four faculties. These include:

  • Faculty of the Arts, Social Sciences & Humanities
  • Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences
  • Faculty of Business and Law
  • Faculty of Science, Medicine and Health

Students

Over 32,000 students are enrolled at the university. They have over 12,800 international students from 134 countries which are 30 per cent of the entire student body. They have alumni of more than 131,859. 

Accommodation

This university has accommodations available for students in many residential colleges and halls. These include:

  • Weerona College
  • Campus East
  • International House

The International House, one of the 16 International Houses worldwide, is the University of Wollongong's oldest residential college. There are 218 students who are accommodated there.

If rooms in UOW accommodation sites are full, you can apply for the waitlist. You will be contacted if a space becomes available in your preferred settings. Ranking

With an overall satisfaction score of 81, the University of Wollongong had the best student satisfaction rating among Australian universities and the second-highest rating among public universities in New South Wales in the 2019 Student Experience Survey. UOW is frequently ranked among the top 200 universities in the world by different university ranking websites.
