The University of Limerick is a higher education institution in Limerick, Ireland. Founded in 1972 as the National Institute for Higher Education, Limerick, it became a university in 1989. The University of Limerick (UL) is a young, independent, internationally focused University. The University of Limerick has the following academic faculties:

Students

UL has a population of close to 16,500 students, including more than 2,000 international students. It is a trendy choice for international students intending to study in Ireland. The University of Limerick has 1,500 faculty and staff.

ULSU is the students' union of the University of Limerick. It acts as a representative body for 16,500 UL students. Students Union operates from the office in the courtyard, which also provides a place for the students to relax. Part of the union, ULSU Ents, organizes entertainment for the UL students throughout the year. The most event takes place during Charity Week and Freshers Week.

At the University of Limerick, there are over 70 student-run societies and clubs. These societies are supported by the sports department, student union and arts office. This institute is home to the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance and the Irish Chamber Orchestra, funded by the Irish Arts Council (Chomhairle Ealaíon). All these organizations perform and commission new Irish dance and music. UL Concert Hall is the primary venue for performing arts. It has a capacity of 1,000 sears and was a purpose-built concert hall in Ireland.a

ACCOMMODATION

Campus residences are the perfect choice for students starting their academic careers at the university and for international or exchange students. The university's campus accommodation has over 2,600 student bedrooms in six attractive Village Residences. Students can also rent private accommodation according to their needs.

Many housing districts near the University of Limerick; have most of the student population, especially in the Castletroy area. Several student apartment complexes have been built in recent years from just 15-20 minutes' walk from the university.
